About the event
Join Smokey House Center and Yoder Farm for a hands-on Theory of Pruning workshop focused on understanding how and why we prune fruit trees. Participants will learn about light infiltration, tree growth habits, pruning objectives, tool selection, methods, and how pruning supports long-term tree health and productivity.
A portion of the workshop will focus on working with neglected or unattended trees—such as older yard trees that haven’t been pruned in years. We’ll discuss where to start, what to expect over multiple seasons, and realistic outcomes when restoring these trees.
This workshop is limited to 20 participants, and advance registration is required. We will have a small number of tools available, but participants are encouraged to bring their own pruning tools if they have them.
