About the event
Come help bring in the harvest and learn about the processes involved in turning bast fibers into cloth at Smokey House. Our textile flax and fiber hemp crops are being grown on our main campus research field. Look for processing demonstrations and hands-on opportunities to try hand processing equipment in the natural fibers lab, located near the farmstand.
No cost and no registration required.
These demos will be held Sunday, August 6, Saturday August 12 and Sunday, August 13 from 10am - 2pm.
This event is part go @diginvt's Open Farm Week. During the 2023 Vermont Open Farm Week, you can meet the farmers, plants, and animals that bring your favorite high-quality Vermont products to your plate.
The greatest part about Open Farm Week is that every farm is unique. Milk a cow and harvest a carrot at one farm, sit on a tractor and take in the smell of freshly cut hay at another and then head over to another for woodfired pizza night and a garden tour. Events are happening all across the state, it's a great time to get out and explore!
