Local Wood Gathering

Join Smokey House Center for an afternoon of discussion on Vermont’s Forest Products Industry. This event will bring together a wide range of folks from the forest products and related industries. Light refreshments will be provided.

Funded by the Northern Border Regional Commission’s Forest Economy Program, our Green Building and Local Wood Economies project seeks to explore the ins and outs of our local “woodshed.” Through surveys, interviews, gatherings and the construction of a pilot housing structure, Smokey House Center aims to identify some of the major barriers to local wood use, and uncover opportunities to support our rural economies that rely on the health of the forest products industry.
