About the event

Bring your typewriter (or just yourself!) and join Education Coordinator Lauren Kelly for a playful and creative Drabble Workshop.

What’s a drabble? It’s a complete story told in exactly 100 words—a tiny but powerful form of writing that challenges you to be precise, imaginative, and bold. Smokey House staff have spent the winter writing environmental and place-based drabbles, and we’re excited to invite you into the practice.

We’ll also be joined by Scott Connors of Stephentown Typewriter Co. (NY)—a collector, restorer, and writer—who will share a brief history of the typewriter, demonstrate basic maintenance, and bring along a selection of machines to explore.

No typewriter needed to participate, but feel free to bring one if you have it!

Come write, learn, and spend an afternoon connecting creativity, story, and place.
