Donate to the Summer Camp Scholarship Fund
In 2017, the Danby Mountain Day Camp will get local kids out into the farm fields and forests of Smokey House Center for eight weeks of fun. You gift will help us offer this camp experience to children who might not otherwise take advantage of a summer camp opportunity.
Donate to the Annual Fund
Each year in the fall, Smokey House Center sends an appeal to its broadest community for contributions to our annual fund. These gifts help pay for operating expenses, such as electricity and facility maintenance.
Donate to the Smokey House Community Farm
Smokey House Center's Community Farm initiative engages local youth, community groups, and other volunteers to grow good food for our neighbors in need.
Donate to the Endowment
Building upon the initial endowment funds provided by Taconic Foundation, Smokey House Center continues to seek donations to our endowment to guarantee on-going support for our educational programs and stewardship of our working landscape.
Donate to the Farmer Equity Fund
Building on the initial Equity Funds provided by the Castanea Foundation, we have developed a retirement-like fund, not unlike a 401(k), for the farmers to whom we lease land. At the end of their farming career, they will have accumulated some equity to fall back on. This equity agreement provides that, over the course of the lease, a sum is earmarked annually for payment to the farmer at the end of the lease term. We view this fund as an important and innovative tool for keeping small, local farms in business.
A very generous thank you to the individuals and organizations who help us make this work possible.
